Porridge Oats

£0.19
(per 100g)

Eating a bowl of porridge will kick-start your day and keep you on the move until lunchtime and beyond.

Oats are a prime source of both soluble and insoluble fibre. The soluble fibre will become a viscous gel in your digestive system slowing down the passage of food through the gut, lowering your cholesterol and helping to stabilise your blood glucose levels. The insoluble fibres will help to provide a 'moving' experience by curtailing constipation and promoting intestinal health.

Oats are a good source of carbohydrate as their slow digestion means they won't have a detremental effect on your blood sugar levels.

Our granola is slowly dehydrated at low temperatures to preserve nutrients & enzymes,

High in fibre and a delicious source of potassium, this organic Raw Carrot, Apple & Cinnamon Muesli is the perfect way to start your day. This gluten-free wonder is a lively mix of sweet fruit, snappy vegetables, and nuts and seeds for some added texture. It’s slowly dehydrated at low temperatures, to help preserve the brilliant nutrients and enzymes. Fill your morning brekkie bowl with this muesli and it won’t just be super healthy and tasty, but picture perfect as well.

Original Swiss muesli, invented by Dr Bircher, was made the night before to let the flavours all flow together into a smooth, comforting breakfast. We’ve milled these oats extra fine, so they go soft and creamy immediately. It’s as if you’ve made muesli the old Swiss way, without the wait. The fruit’s chopped really small, so the sweetness spreads through the milk, making a kind of fruity porridge.

How can you improve The Ultimate Muesli – a muesli so complex and satisfying it’s known as the breakfast that eats other breakfasts for breakfast? Simple. Make it gluten-free. So out goes the barley and rye, in goes quinoa and buckwheat. Then we throw in handfuls of five seeds and five fruits. Now everybody can enjoy our Coconut & Seed Muesli.

Coconuts & Chia. They’re an oddball couple that work together beautifully. The flesh of the coconut satisfies your taste buds and body with creaminess, so we don’t need to add any oil. The chia seeds add extra bite to the crisp, nutty spelt flakes. Together they make a granola like nothing else we’ve ever tasted.

Silent but lovely: why Real Puffed Rice is different. Real puffed rice doesn’t make a sound when you pour milk on it. Most puffed rice is pulped, reconstituted, fortified, sugar-coated and flash-fried. No wonder it explodes on contact with liquid. We only use wholegrain brown rice from Italy’s Po Valley. We compress it, we pause for a moment, then we release the pressure… and foop! It turns into tasty little bubbles of fun, with all the crunch and flavour you could possibly need. If you want a tasty breakfast, we’re always happy to help. If you want a noisy one, turn up the radio.

Toasty, nutty, subtle and light, each and every one of these pure puffs is the grain, and nothing but the grain. Thanks to our top secret popping method, the sensation is oaty and floaty. No added anythings, so you can add your own sweet choice of sweet somethings.

Most puffed cereals are made by grinding grains down to flour, adding water and sugar then squidging them into unnatural-looking shapes. Not at Rude Health. Each puff is a single grain that has been toasted and popped like popcorn. It’s not the easiest way, but it is the best one.

Spelt is an ancient wheat grain, cultivated since the Bronze Age and grown in Britain since Roman times – that’s aeons (yes, actually aeons) before the chemicals and standardisation of today’s common wheat industry. Long live spelt.

Rude Health Spelt Flakes are toasty and nutty. Each flake is one grain of natural spelt, simply steamed, rolled and lightly toasted. This rare approach yields a rare flavour and texture.

Apple & Cinnamon Granola. Muesli’s sophisticated sister. If Muesli is all wholesome country oats, then Granola is like Muesli that moved to the city and got all fancy. Granola got mixed up with real apple pieces, cinnamon and a menage of spelt and six exotic grains, and drizzled with honey. The whole thing is baked with oh-so-chic unrefined cane juice sugar. It’s satisfying, indulgent and up for it morning, noon and night.

We like our raspberries ripe and loud, not shy and quiet. That’s why we’ve chucked handfuls of them into our Organic Strawberry and Raspberry Granola, and a load of strawberry chunks too for good measure. As you’d expect from us, we don’t add anything to them or take anything out. They’re just dried and the raspberries are crushed so you get the full fruity experience. We think they add something light and delicate to the dark, grown-up flavours of the grains baked with honey and date syrup.
